The remarkably fast 200mm (8") f/4 parabolic primary mirr or of the R200SS Newtonian reflector provides extremely sharp images with no chromatic aberration. The use of state-of-the-art coating technology yields the ideal surface for its f/4 primary mirror.
The visual observer will enjoy wide views of deep sky objects. Actual groups of nebula or clusters can be viewed at the same time with this telescope.
The telescope's large aperture and compact body make it ideally suited f or astrophotography of nebulae, star clusters and comets. The use of the optional coma corrector allows for a sharp coma-free image from edge to edge, and the rack and pinion focusing mount, with an adapter, accepts 2 eyepieces.
The R200SS comes standard with the 7x50 finder, 232mm tube rings, dovetail tube plate and new focus design with more distance for photographic equipment, which makes it a great match for the GPD2 mount. Eyepieces are included in the package.
The GPD2 equatorial mount is the stronger and heftier of the GP mounts. With itýs solid steel R. A. and Declination axes and brass worm gears this mount will hold up to years of heavy use. In order to assure accurate tracking for astrophotography the worm, gears are especially machined to a very high precision that minimizes periodic error. Add the new Vixen Starbook S with built in starchart for complete Go-To capabilities.
The GPD2 holds almost 50% more weight than the GP2 and comes standard with tripod and counterweight. It is easy to use and functions well for both the visual observer and astrophotography. Motion is controlled by included control knobs for accurate slewing. The polar altitude adjustment varies from 0 degree to 62 degree in altitude.
